What is ThingsTagManager?
ThingsTagManager is a free macOS companion app for Things 3 by Cultured Code. It makes managing your tags easier with features Things 3 does not offer natively, such as searching tags, viewing them in a flat list, and bulk editing.
Why make this?
I'm a long time user of Things and wanted some extra functionality around tags that it wasn't providing.
Is it free?
Yes. ThingsTagManager is completely free to download and use.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac running macOS 15 or newer, plus Things 3 installed on the same Mac.
Is it made by Cultured Code?
No. ThingsTagManager is an independent application and is not owned by or affiliated with Cultured Code, the makers of Things 3.
Will my changes sync back to Things 3?
Yes. ThingsTagManager has two-way sync. You can import tags from Things 3, create new tags, and edit or delete existing ones. Your changes sync back to Things 3.
Can I edit multiple tags at once?
Yes. You can select multiple tags to give them a new parent tag or delete them at once, which is not possible in Things 3's native tag management.
Does it collect any of my data?
No. ThingsTagManager does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. All tag data stays on your Mac. There are no servers, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Is my data backed up anywhere?
ThingsTagManager does not back up your data. All data is synced from Things 3 and stays on your device. If you use Things Cloud, your data is backed up on Things' end, but ThingsTagManager doesn't save your tag data to its own Cloud backup.
Do I need Things 3 installed on my Mac to use this?
Yes. This app is meant solely as an extension to Things 3 by Cultured Code.
How does it get tags from my Things 3?
